HINDU AND MUSLIM MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE ACTS AMENDED |
Dispur, August 21: The Assam Government, in a decision taken at the Legislative
Assembly, has amended The Assam Moslem Marriages and Divorces Registration
(Amendment) Act, 1935. As per the amendment, the Act will now be called the Assam
Muslim Marriages and Divorces Registration Act, 2010 and the word “voluntary” will
be substituted by the word “compulsory”. A new section 2A has also been inserted
which says that subject to other provisions of this Act and the rules made there under,
registration of Muslim marriages and divorces are compulsory within the State of Assam.
The Hindu Marriage Rules 1961 have also been further amended and it will now be called
the Hindu Marriage (Assam Amendment) Rules, 2008 which will come into force on the
date of their publication in the Official Gazette. Rule 19 has also been amended which
now says that “notwithstanding anything contained in the Act and in these rules, the
registration of Hindu Marriage in Assam shall be compulsory”.

He is showing quick recovery & is responding very well to the treatment. As per the latest updates from the Doctors, he is stable. He has been eating properly & slept well last night. He is responding alertly to the Doctors & care givers. All his vitals are stable. He has been mobilized, is doing his physiotherapy exercises & is able to sit & walk.
